Didn’t Have to Get Married After All: Pori Moni

Popular Bangladeshi actress Pori Moni had previously made headlines by announcing that she would tie the knot again if Argentina won the World Cup. However, following that bold statement, the actress admitted she found herself in quite a fix.

"I never thought everyone would take it so seriously," she shared recently. "I'm receiving so many serious marriage proposals—I honestly don’t know what to do!"

However, with Argentina's defeat in the final, the actress seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. On Sunday night (July 19), Spain clinched the World Cup trophy by defeating Argentina 1-0 at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Right after the final whistle, Pori Moni took to social media to share her reaction. In a post on her verified Facebook page, she wrote: "Didn’t have to get married after all, I guess. Love you, Argentina. See you again."

Earlier, when Argentina defeated England 2-1 in the semi-finals, the actress had posted a lighthearted note targeting English star striker Harry Kane, writing: "Harry Kane, you couldn’t stop my marriage after all!"

In Sunday’s dramatic final, neither team managed to find the back of the net during the regulation 90 minutes. Notably, Argentina failed to register a single shot on target against Spain's defense during normal time. To make matters worse for the South Americans, midfielder Enzo Fernández received a red card during stoppage time.

The match went into extra time, where the deadlock was finally broken in the 106th minute. Ferran Torres slotted the ball past Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez following an assist from Nico Williams. Despite Argentina's desperate attempts to bounce back in the remaining minutes, Spain held on to their lead, reclaiming the World Cup title after 16 years.
